Biography
Rocka is a producer, song-writer and occasional MC from Streatham in south London. His main field within music is Production, which he has been doing for five years. Rocka prides himself on being amongst the most creative and diverse producers in his rank, having shown a high level of production skill across numerous genre's of music such as Grime/G-Hop/R&G, Baseline, R&B, HipHop, House, and even Pop.
Early Music and Influences
Rocka first took an interest in music production aged 14 after being influenced by the likes of So Solid Crew, and particularly the production style of DJ Oxide. Obtaining a copy of Fruity Loops 3.56 (now FL Studio), a young Rocka begun to remake beats produced by DJ Oxide, which enabled him to understand the production of music. By experiementing with FL Studio, Rocka soon had a greater knowledge of the program than many producers his age, and this coupled with his creativity lead to him becoming recognised by his friends and acquaintances as a Grime producer to watch.
A few of Rocka's Grime productions saw success on road, such as 'Terror Riddim' which was highly requested and featured vocals by A2, but Rocka became frustrated with what he found to be politics within music: "It's more about who you know nowadays, not how good a producer you are or what you can do on the buttons." Feeling that less able producers were acheiving more exposure for the wrong reasons prompted Rocka to branch out and experiment with different genres of music.
Later Music and current projects
Of late, Rocka has been focussed on establishing himself as a top producer in more commercially viable music genres, but has reestablished his roots in Grime. Often feeling that Grime is too limiting for his production style, Rocka's latest projects will aim to challenge the typical conventions of Grime music with the use of sounds and arrangement whilst keeping to the accepted style of vocal performance.
