About Pocketz
Pocketz is a young artist of the age 16, he was born in Manchester however moved at an early age and now resides in the East of London, in one of its deprived boroughs Newham, his music is said to be innovative and related to his surroundings. He became a grime mc from his playgound secondary school days, however he was spraying under a different name. His new name assigned to him during the middle of 2007 allowed him to switch up his style and become more devoted and serious within the game it came from his playground antics of 'pickpocketing' his friends as jokes to see if they would notice anything missing.
Aswell as his musical talent, Pocketz is currently studying Graphic Design as one of his courses in college, this appears to be his future proffesion if the music industry fails his admittance. He has done a few designs that can be viewed via his myspace www.myspace.com/pocketzmc his artwork is based on a new artistical movement fueled by the grime scene. He is the inventor of this form and it is called the 'GrimeDesign' it contains elements of the music genre such as slang and photography of urban areas aswell as mysteriously hidden characters or angry poses to bring together an artistic design, it is still currently in development.
He is 1/3 of the group Scene Suspects which consists of Fazer and Tower.
Influence
Anything Pocketz hears as personal preference is an influence to his sound and creative form of flow. His influences however are mostly grime orientated, with the exception of a few artists such as Jay-Z and Papoose influences range from Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Ghetto and Kano.
His artistic influences are from many such as Banksy, Tim Marrs and Neville Brody.
Plans
Pocketz is currently putting together a solo-project entitled 'The Initiation' this is more or less a promo to spread his name around the game. As his beliefs are that 'those at the top only help those at the top' self-promotion is nessecary for him to strive in the business; and he believes this promotional CD will allow him to obtain a certain level of popularity/fame.
